Dynamics 365 Business Central - Now live

Your Business Central. Connected, coded, posted.

OmniPATH connects to Dynamics 365 Business Central with service-to-service authentication - no user login keeping the sync alive. Approved invoices move through a draft-to-post lifecycle with automatic ledger booking, GL accounts and dimensions mapped to your departments and cost centres.

The data flow

What goes which way. And why.

Most "Business Central integrations" are one-way pushes that stop once an invoice is created. OmniPATH treats Business Central as the system of record for what's posted - and enriches everything on the way in so it arrives fully coded.

OmniPATH to Business Central

  • Purchase invoices posted with line items
  • GL accounts + dimensions per line
  • Vendors matched or created on first invoice
  • Draft created, validated, then posted

Business Central to OmniPATH

  • Chart of accounts mapped natively
  • Dimensions - departments, cost centres
  • Posting status written back for audit
  • Vendor ledger entries
The bit other Business Central connectors skip

Built to the Business Central API - not a generic bridge.

Four things that make this a real Dynamics 365 Business Central integration rather than a CSV exporter with a logo on it.

01

Service-to-service authentication

OmniPATH authenticates to Business Central with client credentials, so sync keeps running whether or not anyone is signed in. No expiring user session, no broken nightly job because someone left.

  • Client-credentials OAuth - unattended, machine-to-machine
  • No per-user login required to keep sync alive
  • Survives staff changes - the connection isn't tied to a person
02

Draft to Post lifecycle, with control

Every approved invoice is created in Business Central as a draft, validated against your GL and dimension rules, then posted with automatic ledger booking. You keep the safety of a review step without the manual keying.

  • Draft created from the approved OmniPATH invoice
  • Validated against GL accounts and required dimensions
  • Posted with automatic ledger booking - fully traceable
03

Dimension-aware GL mapping

Departments and cost centres flow through as Business Central dimensions on every line. Map a site or cost centre once in OmniPATH and every invoice line lands on the right account with the right dimension - no manual tagging at month-end.

  • GL account mapping with full dimension support
  • Departments and cost centres applied per line item
  • Site-to-dimension mapping set once, applied forever
04

Per-tenant configuration

Built for partners and multi-entity groups. Each Business Central environment gets its own GL mapping, dimension rules and sync configuration, isolated from every other customer in the deployment.

  • Independent config per BC environment / tenant
  • Multi-entity and partner deployments supported
  • Mappings and history isolated per customer

LEDGE x Business Central

Ask things Business Central alone can't answer.

Because LEDGE - your AI financial intelligence officer - sees both live procurement data and a persistent history from Business Central, it answers questions that would normally mean exporting two CSVs and pivoting in Excel.

Trend question
How has our gross margin changed over the last six months, and which suppliers are driving it?
Reconciliation
List approved invoices over £1k where I can't see the matching payment cleared the bank.
Pricing question
Which suppliers have raised prices more than 10% versus six months ago?
Dimension question
Show spend by dimension - Hospitality vs Retail by region - for the last quarter.
Forecast question
Based on three months of outflow, what's our projected cash position at month-end?
Audit question
Show every FS Foodservice invoice over £500 posted to Business Central in March, with GRN status.
The OmniPATH resolution

Dynamics 365 Business Central is brilliant for accounting. OmniPATH is the layer in front.

Procurement, approvals and spend control belong ahead of the general ledger. OmniPATH gives finance speed, accuracy and real-time visibility across every transaction before it posts to Business Central.

Without OmniPATH

  • Manual draft entry - re-keying invoice lines into Business Central from PDFs and email
  • No purchase approvals - spend posts unchecked and surfaces at month-end
  • Manual dimension tagging - departments and cost centres added by hand, inconsistently
  • Broken nightly syncs - jobs tied to a user session that expires or leaves
  • Month-end scramble - reconciliation drags across multiple entities

With OmniPATH

  • AI invoice capture - extracted, coded and posted to BC in seconds
  • Digital approval workflows - nothing books to the ledger unauthorised
  • Automatic dimensions - departments and cost centres mapped once, applied to every line
  • Unattended sync - client-credentials connection that doesn't depend on a person
  • Real-time spend visibility - committed and posted spend visible as it happens
One hub, every system

Business Central is the ledger. OmniPATH connects everything else.

Your business runs on dozens of systems - procurement requests on mobile, supplier invoices in email, bank feeds, card spend. OmniPATH consolidates, enriches and routes, with Business Central as the system of record at the centre.

1

Consolidate

Invoices by email, POS data, mobile purchase requests - normalised before anything reaches Business Central.

2

Enrich

AI adds GL codes, dimensions and tax so transactions arrive in Business Central fully coded and audit-ready.

3

One truth

Operations see approvals, finance sees committed spend, suppliers see payment status. Same data, no silos.

4

Portable

Xero, QuickBooks and the full Sage range are live. If your ledger changes, your OmniPATH history carries forward.

FAQs

Dynamics 365 Business Central integration - answered

Which Business Central versions are supported?
OmniPATH connects to Dynamics 365 Business Central online (SaaS) via the standard Business Central API. Both single-environment and multi-environment (production and sandbox) tenants are supported, and configuration is set per environment so production and test never cross over.
How does OmniPATH authenticate to Business Central?
Via client-credentials OAuth - a service-to-service connection that doesn't require a user to be signed in. This means scheduled syncs keep running unattended and the connection survives staff changes, because it isn't tied to an individual login.
How are GL accounts and dimensions handled?
OmniPATH maps your Business Central chart of accounts natively and supports full dimensions - departments and cost centres. When you raise a purchase request against a site or cost centre in OmniPATH, the matching dimension is applied automatically, so every posted line lands on the correct account and dimension without manual tagging.
Will OmniPATH create duplicate invoices in Business Central?
No. Each invoice posted carries a unique external identifier referencing the source OmniPATH document, and the draft-to-post lifecycle validates before booking. The same approved purchase cannot be posted twice.
Does it support multiple companies or entities?
Yes. Configuration is per-tenant, so multi-entity groups and partners running several Business Central environments get independent GL mappings, dimension rules and sync settings, fully isolated from one another.
How is the connection secured?
OAuth tokens are stored encrypted at rest and all API traffic runs over HTTPS. Your data lives in a tenant-isolated database with row-level security. LEDGE inference uses Anthropic Claude under a no-training, no-retention agreement, in line with GDPR.
